It’s nice to see that Food Writer’s Diary readers understand that the celebrity chef phenomenon is a complicated one, and so at the moment “it’s more complicated than that” is far and away the most popular response. Those of us who are pr pros for chefs and restaurants are glad for it, because it furthers the demand for quality (we hope.) The celebrity chef situation fits in with our US love of celebrity of all kinds, good or bad. However, it can also work against chefs/restaurants because the "space" available for non-celebrities or up and coming chefs may be narrower and more hard to navigate.
